Unpopular Opinion: Meghan Markle was a white feminist before she reconciled with race.

I’m watching the Netflix documentary, y’all. And it’s verifying everything I suspected about Meghan and how she views race. Take a look at my previous article: Why Some Black Women Are Still Not In Meghan’s Corner for context and receipts. Well folks, I called it. Meghan rejected being Black and relied on her ambiguity to position herself as a citizen of the world, rather than a woman of African ancestry. But the institution she married into- which is predicated upon white supremacy wasn’t having it.

I am intrigued that in the documentary, her mother Doria admits that she fumbled in not having real conversations with Meghan about what it means to be Black in America. When the British media started attacking her daughter- Doria- in typical Black women fashion having the intuition, foresight and wisdom of understanding intentions and outcomes told Meghan- “this is about race”. To which Meghan replied “I don’t want to hear that.” Doria is a Black mother who has shielded her daughter from the burden of Black womanhood- to carry the weight and stigma of Blackness on her back. She realized the faults in that and for that I highly respect her. However, she herself did not take the time to unpack what was a traumatic incident for Meghan- when her mother was called a “N-” with a “hard r” in a parking lot…
